The ION Capture 2/2 Shorty SS Front Zip junior is ION's short-sleeved front zip shorty from their junior range. It's designed for young riders who are quickly progressing. This shorty features 2/2 limestone neoprene, a Silk_Stuff lining, Supra_Tex nylon on the exterior, and reinforced Flatlock seams. ION has brought over details from their adult Element range. It's available in seven sizes, from 104/4 to 176/16.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The Capture by ION
Capture is ION's junior range. The brand designed it for kids and teens who progress quickly and demand more from their wetsuit. It incorporates the design and several technical details from their adult Element range. The ION Capture 2/2 Shorty SS Front Zip junior is the 2/2 short-sleeved, front zip shorty in this line.
Construction
The foam is ION's standard neoprene, made from limestone rather than petroleum. On the outside, you'll find nylon with Supra_Tex protection. Inside, there's the thin and soft Silk_Stuff lining. The Flatlock seams are flat to limit irritation. Stress points are reinforced. ION states the composition as 80% neoprene and 20% polyamide.
Entry and Collar
The Double_flap zip runs horizontally across the chest. This makes entry easy. The back remains in one piece. ION adds the Water Gate Plus. These are additional seams around the neck for a better-fitting collar and less water entry.
For what conditions
ION does not publish a temperature range for the Capture junior. A 2/2 shorty is a summer wetsuit. On the Atlantic coast, it's ideal from July to September in good weather. Kids cool down faster than adults, so as soon as the water gets colder or the wind picks up, switch to a full wetsuit. This shorty is for children or teenagers who kitesurf, wingfoil, or Surf in summer. It's ideal for those learning at school or in a club, and who are progressing quickly. It comes in seven sizes, from 104/4 to 176/16.
Measure the child and check the ION size guide higher up on the page. It lists height, weight, and chest circumference for each size. The first number in the size indicates height in centimeters; the second is an approximate age. Height is the most important factor. A shorty should fit snugly without air pockets. If it's too big, water will circulate, and it won't keep you warm. Do not buy a larger size hoping it will last longer.
ION offers the Capture shorty in both versions, at the same price. The back zip is easier to put on, which is important for a young child. The front zip lets in less water and leaves the back free for paddling. This specific version has a front zip.
Rinse it with fresh water after each session. Turn it inside out and let it dry in the shade on a wide hanger. Never dry it in the sun or on a radiator. Never fold it wet in a bag. Close the zip before hanging it, and rinse the pull tab along with the rest. Sand in a zip is what causes it to wear out.
