The stabilizer, or rear wing, balances the foil. A large, high-lift stab stabilizes the flight and helps with take-offs, while a small, thin stab makes the foil lively and fast. A stab with an inverted profile or winglets changes the turning behaviour. This is the part you change to make your foil evolve without buying a new front wing. Which stab is right for your riding style?
- Learning and freeride: A large surface area stab (F-ONE Tail DW and Back Wing, Duotone Back Wing Stabilizer S and H, Slingshot One-Lock Verse 270), stable and forgiving.
- Waves and carving: A smaller stab with a turn-oriented profile (F-ONE Tail Carving, Armstrong Stab Surf MK2, Slingshot One-Lock Flare Tail), for tight turns.
- Speed, downwind, and pumping: A thin, small stab (F-ONE Tail DW Comp and Tail Pumping, Armstrong Speed 180 and Dart 120 and 140, Slingshot One-Lock Turbo 180, Core CFS), for glide and re-acceleration.
