Men's mid-season wetsuits: the 4/3 mm for Atlantic spring and autumn

The 4/3 mm is the wetsuit that gets the most use on the Atlantic coast: from April to June and from September to November, when the water is between 12 and 17 degrees. Many riders also use it for a good part of the summer for kiting and wing foiling, where you stay up in the wind. This section gathers men's 4/3s, with or without a hood, and a few warm 3/2 options from ION, Manera, O'Neill, Ride Engine, and Prolimit. Which 4/3 for your riding style?

For kitesurf and wing foil, look for a 4/3 that's flexible in the shoulders, with reinforced knees and a front zip or U-Zip: ION Seek Core, Seek Amp and Seek Select, Manera Seafarer FZ and U-Zip, Magma and Xtend, Ride Engine RE_X, or the Prolimit Mercury Freezip. For Surf, you need flexibility under the arms: O'Neill Hyperfreak and Hyperfreak Wind, or the Manera Classic BZ and FZ. For riders whose head gets cold come autumn, there are options with an integrated hood, like the Manera Seafarer Hooded. The back zip (ION Element, Seek Core BZ, Manera Classic BZ) is still the easiest to put on.

Frequently asked questions

4/3 or 5/4 for an Atlantic autumn?

A 4/3 is fine until November for most riders; go for a 5/4 from October if you get cold easily or have long kite sessions in the wind.

Is a 4/3 wetsuit enough for summer kiting?

Often, yes, for long and windy sessions where wind chill is more of a factor than water temperature. On hot days, use a 3/2.

Front zip, back zip, or U-Zip?

Front zip and U-Zip for better sealing and flexibility in kiting and wing foiling. Back zip for easier entry and a lower price.
