ARMSTRONG MIDLENGTH FG WINGFOIL BOARD

Introduction

Here's my test feedback on the Armstrong 55 Midlength board. I've been riding it for two months now.

I finally got my hands on a "2-in-1-inch board I'd been waiting for. This board delivers high performance for both surf foil and wingfoil.

Let's dive into the design and performance of this Armstrong board.

Technical Specifications

This Midlength concept is available in 45L and 55L. It lets you use a single board instead of two for medium to strong wave or wind conditions. This practical and accessible idea means you no longer need two boards for these conditions. It is also economical.

The board is designed with a solid construction made of a full carbon sandwich deck-rails-hull shape. It also has long carbon fin boxes. These allow optimal mast placement.

Straps are not included. However, I recommend getting the Armstrong straps, which come with titanium screws.

This construction is designed for durability, no matter your riding style.

surf foil performance

The float is a bit longer than typical surf foil boards. This makes take-offs easier on small waves.
On larger waves, you can take off earlier to avoid critical zones and maintain a safety margin.
The surf foil ride feel is truly interesting, but how does it perform for wingfoil?

A closer look at the Armstrong Midlength FG board

wingfoil performance

The 55L board lets you ride from 18 knots and up. You'll experience a freeride-freewave feel with complete freedom for jumping.

The narrow width and flat hull shape allow for quick take-offs. The board's small width requires a short adaptation period to stand up, especially in lighter conditions.

Once you get the hang of it, take-off remains efficient and smooth.
The performance is solid, but what truly impressed me was the board's comfort and control.

Comfort and control in flight

This board truly impressed me in flight with its easy control and comfort.
The board is well-balanced. This makes it easy to find your footing. The board's size doesn't hinder navigation at all, and its width allows for very efficient air penetration.

With this midlength, you go fast and can attack maneuvers with confidence. Tacks are easy to pull off in a tight spot. This controlled aerial behavior makes you want to push your limits.

Volume comparison

This board offers different options, depending on rider body size/build and conditions. Here are some guidelines for those unsure about the right volume.

I've also tried other larger sizes, specifically 65, 75, and 85L. I recommend the 65L as a single board, and the 75 and 85L, especially in light conditions.

For KWing or pocket wing use, I recommend the 85L. It offers excellent stability and gliding efficiency.

Conclusion

The midlength combines performance and versatility for both surfoil and wingfoil. Armstrong delivers an economical, reliable solution that adapts perfectly to your riding style.

The board's look is sublime, and the manufacturing quality is truly outstanding.
